Fold damp shirt in half lengthwise.
Fold star pattern in half, aling with fold of shirt and trace with a washable marker.
Pleat fabric along the star outline.
Make sure that pleats line up along the marker line, forming as straight of a line as possible.
Wrap a rubber band tightly around marker line, then add another about a half inch below the first.
Mix dye according to instructions.
Apply lighter dye (or desired color) to the tip of bound shirt (the star design).
Apply second dye color to the next bound section of shirt.
Seal in plastic bag to keep damp while dye sets for 6-8 hours or overnight. Rinse and launder according to instructions.
